📅 Upcoming Events
🚤 Seafair Weekend Festival (Lake Washington)
Date: July 11 - August 2
Price: free
Hydroplane races screaming across Lake Washington and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels overhead — Seafair is the loudest, most spectacular summer day in Seattle. The smart family move is Friday: same races, same energy, zero admission cost. Blue Angels practice runs also happen Thursday, July 30 and can be watched for free from along the lake. Pack ear protection for little ones — the hydroplanes and fighter jets are genuinely, wonderfully deafening.

😃 Free options
🛶 Public Peapod Program (SLU)
The Center for Wooden Boats hands you the oars to a classic wooden peapod rowboat at no cost and sends you out on Lake Union for a full hour. No reservation, no fee, no experience required — boats hold up to four and life jackets are provided.
On monthly Public Sail Sundays (next dates: July 26, August 30, September 27, 1–5pm), kids can build their own toy wooden boats and test them in the model pond
p.s Weekday mornings tend to have the shortest wait
🚨 Bonus: we post all of the free daily events this month, check them out!

Dogs ride free. You can pre-order ice cream at checkout so kids don't have to fumble for cash at the counter. Sailings at 11am, noon, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm; slots fill fast on sunny Sundays so book ahead.
🏴☠️ Family Treasure Cruise (Ballard)
When: Saturdays and Sundays
Ages: all ages
Price: $9-$32
Kids get a personalized pirate name tag and spend 45 minutes aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge on Lake Union hunting for treasure, learning pirate speak, and firing the ship's water blasters at wayward loot. Every kid picks a keepsake from the treasure chest before they disembark. Arrive at Dock 9 at Fishermen's Terminal at least 15 minutes early — the ship leaves on time, no exceptions. Snacks, drinks, and pirate gear are available on board.
⚡ Electric Boat Rental (Lake Union)
Ages: all ages
Price: $116-$139/hr
Rent a quiet electric Duffy boat and captain your own cruise around Lake Union — no experience needed. Pack a picnic and a playlist (Bluetooth speakers on every boat), and cruise past the floating homes, seaplanes, and Gas Works Park at your own pace. Summer hours run daily 11am–8pm from their dock at 2046 Westlake Ave N. The on-water "Clueless in Seattle" scavenger hunt is available as an add-on if your crew needs some extra adventure.

🍔 Dining options
⛴️ Waterways Sunday Supper Cruise (Ballard)
Ages: all ages
Price: $59-$95 (kids under 2 free)
The only all-ages dining cruise in Seattle, running every Sunday through fall from Fisherman's Terminal (5–7pm). Two hours on Lake Union and the Lake Washington Ship Canal, your own private table, and a buffet dinner: chicken piccata, miso glazed salmon, roasted vegetables, crème brûlée.
The captain narrates as you cruise past floating homes, Gas Works Park, and the Space Needle skyline. Less formal than a traditional dinner cruise — families with kids fit right in. Book early; summer Sundays fill up fast.
