Upcoming Events and other stuff

Taiko at Kubota Garden (Rainier Beach)

Date: 8/24

Kubota Garden is hosting three local taiko groups to turn the garden into a thunder factory. Grab a lawn chair or blanket, pack a picnic, and let the drums shake the ground under your feet. It’s not just music, it’s a full-body experience.

They have regular events to check out!

Paws on the Patio (Seattle)

Date: 8/19 & 8/26

1 Hotel is making summer better for dogs (and their humans) with Paws on the Patio. Every week, Seattle Barkery rolls up with fresh, preservative-free treats, think pupcakes, cheezy donuts, peanut butter paws, and a menu that changes so your dog never gets bored. It’s free, pet-friendly, and all good vibes. Just bring the pup, they’ll handle the rest.

Paid stuff

Nixi City (Shoreline)

(opens 9/1)

Nixi City is a next level, Montessori meets Reggio Emilia brain gym for kids ages 0–8, built by ex-Google designers and play obsessed educators. • Designed for growth: It’s built to nurture critical thinking, confidence, and motor skills with intentional play, not screens.

  • Every visit is earned: Memberships (like unlimited monthly passes with perks) or single day play options mean flexibility, whether it’s a spontaneous outing or a repeat nap time lifeline.

  • 1 hour play: $15

  • All day play: $19
