🐙 Kid Friendly Seattle - The best market in town

Seattle Parents. Here's your direct line to all the coolest upcoming events and kid-friendly vibes in the city is right here.

Welcome folks!

What to expect

This weekly newsletter (usually around noon on Tuesdays) is going to be broken down into 4 parts:

  1. Free stuff

  2. Paid Stuff

  3. Dining

  4. Cool stuff and events we’ve found

Free stuff

The Ballard Market

The Ballard Farmers Market is like Disneyland for parents who want to feel like cool urban foragers. It’s stroller-friendly, packed with samples (read: free snacks for your gremlin), and there’s always some guy playing a fiddle like it’s 1892. It’s chaotic, charming, and somehow makes buying $9 peaches feel like an act of rebellion against Costco.

Pro Tips:
• Bring strollers - not for the kids but to store all your fresh snacks and loafs.
• Get there before 11am to beat the crowds and meltdowns.
• Hit the grassy area on Ballard Ave for spontaneous toddler dance parties.

Paid stuff

Imagination Station

Imagine Children's Museum in Everett? This place is a full-blown wonderland for your kids, and honestly, you might even have a blast too. We're talking multiple floors packed with hands-on exhibits designed to spark serious curiosity, from a massive treehouse to a waterworks lab.

It's not just about pushing buttons; it's about real, tactile, imaginative play that'll actually tire them out (you're welcome). Plus, with their epic rooftop playground, it's a solid win for burning energy and making memories.

Price: $22 for parents and free for kids under 2

  • Pro tip: Half off Tuesdays

  • Rooftop First (or Last): The outdoor rooftop playground is a major draw. Hit it first to burn off some initial energy, or save it as a reward for after exploring the indoor exhibits.

  • Embrace the Mess: Many exhibits involve water, sand, or other sensory play. Dress your kids in clothes that can get a little messy, or bring a change of clothes. They're meant to get hands-on!

  • Fuel Up Smart: They have a cafe, but it can get busy. Consider packing some easy-to-eat snacks and drinks to keep energy levels high between all the exploring.

Dining

Fremont brewing

Let's talk Fremont Brewing. If you've been sleeping on this spot because you think breweries are just for adults, you're dead wrong—this place is a straight-up genius move for families.

p.s we checked it out last week (instagram)

  • Space is King: Seriously, their Urban Beer Garden is huge. Your kids can actually move without you stressing about them knocking over someone's flight.

  • Built-in Entertainment: They've got board games. That's right, actual analog entertainment to pry those iPads out of their tiny hands.

  • Food Hack: While they have some grub (and the Smash That! Burger Co. is often there), you can bring your own food or order delivery. Perfect for those picky eaters, and saves you a ton of cash.

Cool stuff and events

Parkour Parkour

Parkour Visions. If your kid is bouncing off the walls at home, this isn't just an activity; it's a game-changer. We're talking about a non-profit that teaches kids (and families!) how to move, play, and overcome obstacles – physically and mentally.

This isn't about reckless stunts you see on YouTube; it's about building confidence, strength, and creative problem-solving through movement. They've got classes for all ages, from little explorers to teens, and even Family Parkour sessions where you can get in on the action. It's a fantastic way to burn energy, learn real-world skills, and join a supportive community.

Price: $63 (tickets)

Pro-Tips for Crushing Parkour Visions with Kids:

  • Start with "Fundamentals": If your kid is new to it, look for their "FUNdamentals" or Level 1 classes. They're designed to build a strong, safe base.

  • Check Locations: Parkour Visions uses multiple indoor and outdoor spots around Seattle (like UW's Red Square, Garfield Community Center, and various parks). Find the one closest to you.

  • Dress for Movement: Comfortable athletic clothes and flexible, rubber-soled sneakers are key. And always pack water – they'll be moving a lot!
