Stay Golden

Golden Gardens is an absolute no-brainer for any Seattle family. This isn't just a beach; it's a full-on experience where you've got epic Puget Sound views, sprawling sand for the kids to dig in, and bonfire pits for those perfect summer nights. It's an easy win for outdoor fun that consistently delivers.
Hot tip: stay further south on the beach for a more family friendly environment
Bring sand castle building materials, it’s a must!
Parking can be a pain here, so remember deep breaths upon arrival
Paid stuff
Ferry SZN

The Seattle Ferry is one of my favorite low key way to spend an afternoon with my kid. You can hit Bremerton or Bainbridge Island for about an hour each way. They have a small kitchen and you can bring your own food on-board. Kids can run outside on the deck and burn that sweet, pre-nap energy.
Price: $10 walk on, $23 drive on
Go during sunset for golden hour
They have a ton of puzzles on board, and feel free to bring your own toys
Pro Tip: Bring bubbles for the outside deck to be the ultimate parent!
Dining
Caribbean beach vibes

Bongos Seattle is an extraordinary Caribbean escape right here in the city, especially clutch for families. They've nailed that laid-back, beachy vibe with killer food that'll transport you. (we go here monthly)
Sand Play: They've got a sand area – seriously, your kids will be thrilled.
Flavor Punch: Expect bold, authentic Caribbean flavors that actually deliver.
Chill Vibes: Perfect for a relaxed family meal without the usual restaurant chaos.

Derby Days

Get ready to kick off Derby Days with a bang. You need to hit up the third annual Hopelink Neighborhood Fair – it's all going down Friday, July 11th, from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Hopelink Redmond Center.
This is a free, family-friendly event loaded with good vibes, and it's just a quick walk from downtown. We're talking:
Mariner Moose sighting (yeah, the real one)
Free face painting, balloon art, and cotton candy – because why not?
Live entertainment from some seriously talented local performers.
Delicious grub from the best local food trucks.
Plus, you can actually learn about Hopelink's mission and connect with key community players.
