If you already love exploring the city with your little ones, this is basically getting paid to do what you're doing anyway.

Friday - June 12

  • An inclusive, low-key outdoor art market at Cal Anderson Park from 3pm to 8pm, with local artists selling handmade goods, sculptures, design pieces, vintage clothing, and original art. No entry fee, no curation intimidation — just come whenever, browse, and leave when you're ready. Families are welcome and there's no fenced-off perimeter.

  • Price: free

  • Friday June 12 is the final day of Spartan Recreation Center's spring indoor playground program — open 10am to noon for kids to run, climb, and play on the indoor equipment. Simple, cheap, and perfect for burning energy on a weekday morning before the World Cup craziness kicks off in the afternoon.

  • Price: $3/child (residents), $3.50/child (non-residents); accompanying adults free

  • Seattle Symphony musicians share their favorite stories, songs and musical games in a series that introduces your youngest listeners to the instruments of the orchestra. These fun, interactive concerts are approximately 30 minutes. Ages 0-5 year olds.

  • Price: $15

  • The FIFA World Cup kicks off in earnest on Friday and the Armory is the city's living room for it. Two matches are on deck: Bosnia & Herzegovina vs. Canada at noon, and Paraguay vs. USA at 6pm — both on large-format screens inside the all-weather Armory. Food vendors on site, family-friendly all day, seating is first-come first-served.

  • Price: free

  • Puyallup's annual 87th-anniversary festival opens Friday with 200+ artisan vendors, three stages of live music, a classic car show, food vendors, and a dedicated kids area with a sandbox, spray park, and playground. Friday hours are noon to 9pm along South Meridian. The festival continues through Sunday, but Friday is the uncrowded opener.

  • three veteran acrobats spin a 90-minute, all-ages show of rope acrobatics, Cyr wheel, hand balancing, clowning, and even live baking.

  • Price: $76+

  • tot gyms are full of toys, mats, and slides. Must register for a Quick Card at the front desk on your first visit.

🌊 Rooftop Reflections (Downtown Waterfront)

  • Every Friday from 11:30am to 3:30pm, Seattle Aquarium naturalists host drop-in programming on the Ocean Pavilion rooftop along the waterfront. "Rooftop Reflections" focuses on slowing down, connecting with the water view, and exploring Indigenous knowledge of the Pacific — a nice breath of air in the middle of a big World Cup weekend.

Saturday - June 13

  • The Sounders and Reign opened a floating pitch on Elliott Bay for the World Cup, and Saturday morning the RAVE Foundation takes it over for kids. Bring your child to the barge for open soccer play from 8–11am — drills, small-sided games, and a pitch that literally floats on the water. Advance registration is required and spots fill fast.

  • Price: free

🎠 Georgetown Carnival (Georgetown)

  • Georgetown's full-neighborhood block party runs noon to 10pm. Multiple live music stages, carnival games, spin art, classic car showcase, puppy petting zoo, SANCA youth performance, Super 8 film screenings, screen printing with Vera Project, food vendors, and more than 150 weird, gritty, excellent hours of Georgetown at its most Georgetown.

  • Price: free

  • Every second Saturday, the Frye runs an hour-long family program built around a picture book. June 13 features The Bunnies Are Not in Their Beds by Marisabina Russo — storytelling leads into hands-on artmaking with materials designed for tactile play. Doors open at 11am, program runs 11:15am–12:30pm. Free but capped; register the night before or arrive for standby at 11.

  • Price: free

  • just show up between 10am and 11:30am for this drop-in family program at one of Seattle's most beautiful hidden gardens. Kids hear a reading of What Do You See When You Look at a Tree? then make their own painting inspired by the towering conifers and maples around them.

  • Price: free

  • One of the most purely fun events of early summer: a working farm in Snohomish opens its barnyard for baby goats, lambs, chicks, and bunnies alongside 30+ activities — cow train, ziplines, jumping pillows, low ropes course, wagon ride, and U-pick strawberries. Open 9am–6pm. Plan to stay most of the day.

  • Price: $29 per person, free for kids 11 months and under

  • The walkable downtown and nearby waterfront make it an easy half-day trip from the north end. A relaxed, browse-and-snack kind of morning.

🎪 Beacon Arts Street Fair: Beacon Hill Pride Edition (Beacon Hill / Rainier Valley)

  • The monthly Beacon Arts market takes on a Pride theme for June, with queer artists and makers at the forefront alongside live music, dance acts, free seeds and plants from the Beacon Hill Garden Club (11am–2pm), and food vendors. 11am–5pm.

🥕 University District Farmers Market (University District)

  • Seattle's oldest and largest farm-and-food-only market, running every Saturday year-round on University Way NE between 50th and 52nd. 80+ booths at peak season, all local producers

Sunday - June 14

🦴 Fossil Making (Seattle)

  • Radicle Summer is hosting a nature walk & fossil making event for families with our resident Paleobiologist. We will be exploring old growth forests in Seward Park and working on learning how fossils are made, while making one.

  • Price: Sliding Scale ($45/$67/$88), children under 5 free

  • Join Sue Kimpton for Wooden Boat Storytime in the Boathouse and be enchanted by her irrepressible wit and storytelling charm. Let your imagination soar and your inner child take flight — you and your child will both enjoy a romp down “Story Time Lane” that is a must see!

🤩 FUN(D)FAIR (Wallingford)

  • Think Ren Fair meets Sunday Market meets Neighborhood Party! This fun(d)fair pops-up for one day only at the Meridian Playground in Wallingford, hosted by local theater group Dacha Theatre to raise funds for a summer tour to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival! 12:00-6:00pm

  • Price: free

🧘‍♀️ Flow Fest Main Event PlayDate (Phinney Ridge)

  • We're teaming up with Seattle Flowmies to bring an all day flow jam in the park!

  • Price: free

🦠 DIY Bio workshop (Seattle)

  • A hands-on workshop to test how well anti-bacterials work ... or not! Let's test your stuff on what does or does not work to kill microbes. In the last workshop we had some unexpected results, a chinese herbal medicine was found to be incredibly effective at killing yeasts (less so on some bacteria).

  • A community celebration of Mexican culture with Music, dance, art, & food.
