Friday - May 1

  • Princess Cruises invites you to a public drone show event on May 1st at the Seattle Center to celebrate the arrival of its newest ship, Star Princess, in Seattle for its inaugural Alaska season. The drone show will begin at 8:30 p.m. The drones will fly 200–400 feet above ground next to the Space Needle with the recommended viewing area at the International Fountain Lawn.

  • Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at the Seattle Aquarium! Join us for special programming, a scavenger hunt and more throughout May. We’ll have special talks on Wednesdays and Sundays related to AAPI communities and marine conservation. Come chat with an Aquarium scientist and learn more about careers in science at the Discovery Lab every Sunday in May from 11:30am–1:30pm.

  • Open Dance & Play is a fun, free-flowing playtime designed for toddlers and their grown-ups! This open-ended studio time gives little movers the chance to explore the space, climb, tumble, dance, and build confidence in a safe, welcoming environment. Soft mats, age-friendly props, and upbeat music create the perfect space for imaginative play and early motor-skill development. Caregivers stay and play, encouraging curiosity, connection, and joyful movement. Ideal for littles ages 5 and under who love to wiggle and explore.

  • Explore the sights and sounds of the animal kingdom with the percussion family. AGE RECOMMENDATION: The Tiny Tots Series is designed for ages 0–5. Children of all ages are welcome at Tiny Tots performances. All ages need a concert ticket, including babies in arms.

🎲 Family Boogie Bingo (Seattle)

🌮 Kids Cook: Tacos (Green Lake)

  • Ages 8-12. Tickets priced per person. In this cooking class, kids will learn skills for making simple yet flavorful Mexican fare. With our experts as their guide, they’ll try out techniques for cleaning, cutting and roasting veggies for sweet potato tacos with an avocado-tomatillo salsa side. They’ll also practice making masa dough, pressing it flat and cooking it into tortillas.

  • On Saturday, May 2, the Museum celebrates everything Star Wars with its annual May the Fourth event. The Force is strong during the largest Star Wars event in the Northwest. Family programs include lightsaber shows and training by the Saber Guild – Kamino Temple, over a dozen friendly and interactive R2-D2s, wildly energetic music by the 8-Bit Brass Band; and the authentically attired troopers, pilots, and otherworldly citizens portrayed by the 501st Garrison Titan Star Wars cosplayers. Not to mention the throngs of costumed Museum visitors engaged in the fun of Star Wars.

🖥️ Vintage Computer Festival (Tukwila)

  • Vintage Computer Festival Pacific Northwest is held at the Tukwila Community Center and this two-day festival brings together vintage computing enthusiasts, collectors, and curious visitors for a hands-on look at the evolution of technology. Guests can explore 25+ interactive exhibits featuring retro computers, attend expert-led talks on computing history, and connect with a passionate community preserving digital heritage. Presented in partnership with the Interim Computer Museum, the event runs 10 a.m.–6 p.m. daily; a suggested $10 donation supports programming.

  • Each kit pack includes a certificate of completion, an apron pin and a Kids Workshop apron. Easy enough for a 5-year old, but fun for all ages, this pre-cut wooden kit encourages creativity and instills a sense of accomplishment. You will learn to hammer and create really cool stuff in less than an hour. Parents of younger children will have fun working with them on this project. Parts are made of wood and kit includes all necessary assembly hardware. Can be used as-is or painted or stained and adorned with stickers or stamps.
